Vessel sinks are somewhat of a modern throwback to the days of washstands and washbowls. These types of sinks can come in a variety of shapes from round, square or oval and even offer other design choices such as shallow or deep bowls. All of these options make the vessel sink a great choice to customize the style in your bathroom. A powder room is usually a great choice for this sink type as they tend to be on display more so here than in the other bathrooms in the house.
Even with all of the different shapes and sizes most vessel sinks can be installed on any flat surface. That means that the majority of vessel sinks can be mounted on anything from a granite countertop to an antique style dresser you found at a yard sale which makes its style that much more customizable. How they are mounted to the flat surface all depends on the make and model of the sink. Some are mounted only at the drain flange while others are somewhat embedded into the flat surface you are mounting it on. Regardless of the way it is mounted be sure to always check and follow the manufactures instructions for mounting to ensure it is done properly.
To compliment the beauty and elegance of a vessel sink you want to choose a faucet with the same qualities. Something with a tall spout that can mount to the counter top is always a great choice. You can even find one that comes directly out of the wall above the sink to add some flare. When choosing a faucet make sure that the flow of the water ends up directly into the centre of the sink. This will reduce the splashing and spray of the water. You will also want to again refer to your manufactures manual to ensure the faucet you want is compadable with the vessel of your choice.
