More than any other type of sink, the pedestal sink moves in and out of style most frequently. However, even during the times when the pedestal sink isn’t at its peak of trendiness it is still in pretty reasonable demand. This is due to its classic, clean and timeless design. They are perfect for all types of bathrooms but are most commonly found in smaller half baths where a smaller sink footprint is ideal. More and more of todays bathroom renovations utilize the pedestal sinks in order to achieve a his and her sink setup that don’t visually dominate the design.
Although very popular pedestal sinks do have one primary downside to them. Due to their design and very small footprint they do not offer any storage space. The main benefit to the pedestal sink is that it conceals all of the plumbing that would be considered an eyesore without taking up valuable space.
The sink portion is generally mounted to the wall using a metal bracket and the the pedestal portion is actually installed after the sink has been mounted to conceal all of the plumbing as the pedestal’s main objected is decorative. Although the pedestal will hide virtually all plumbing you may find that some parts may end up showing depending on the design of the pedestal. If you want to achieve a classy, seamless look spend some extra time on the installation.
