Ice makers are a very convent tool to have. They can supply you with an endless supply of ice for home use. Once you have one you will wonder how you ever got by without it. Today, most of your higher end model fridges come equipped with ice makers. For those models that do not come with the ice maker you can purchase a 3rd party ice maker unit and have int installed in your current model.
To determine if your current fridge is a good fit for an ice maker unit you will want to inspect the back of the unit just behind the freezer compartment. If you see all of the required plumbing there then you are in luck as all you need to do is write down the make and model of your fridge and get in touch with Caldwell Plumbing and we can sell you the perfect aftermarket ice maker unit for your fridge.
If you do not have the required plumbing already installed in your fridge you will need to hook up a cold-water supply line to your current fridge which does involve some drilling. In most cases you can find a pipe in the basement directly below your kitchen, most likely right under the location of your kitchen sink. In order to properly make this connection you may need to refer to and abide by some local codes so it is always wise to look into that prior to beginning this project.
Keep in mind that installing a ice maker unit requires some plumbing skill. If you are proficient in this area our next few blog articles will provide you with the steps in how to complete this install. However, if you are not fully confident in these areas please contact Caldwell Plumbing and set up a appointment for one of our fully licensed professionals to complete this project for you.
