Choosing a new kitchen faucet.

Today when looking at choosing a new kitchen faucet there are many different options to choose from. In the past  you would usually find that the majority of kitchen faucets were mounted directly onto the sink. While you can still find some today that still mount to the sink deck you can also find more modern style kitchen faucets that are mounted to the countertop itself. One thing to keep in mind when looking at new faucets is what your plans are with your existing kitchen sink. If you plan to replace both at the same time you have more freedom with your choices. However, if you plan on using the current sink you want to find something that fits your current setup. Although you can fill holes in the sink deck with snap-in plugs its best to find an option that won’t leave these holes.

Most of your basic kitchen faucets fall under two categories: Single-Handle and Two-Handle

Single-Handle Sink

These models are the more common type of faucet found. This type of setup has one control for water allowing you to adjust the water flow and temperature easily with one hand.

Two-Handle

Ulthough not the most common set up the Two-Handle kitchen faucet remains popular. Unlike the Single-Handle kitchen faucets the Two-Handle has two water controls, one for hot water and the other for cold. Their designs tend to be a bit more elegant and are recommended for sinks that are deeper than 8″.

Once you have a sink chosen the next step would be to uninstall your current kitchen sink. We will be publishing an article soon teaching you how to go about this.
