A new faucet can add a whole new look and feel to a bathroom. There are various styles to choose from making it very easy to find the right fit for your design. Colour, finish, shape, design, these are just a few of the options you will find when selecting a faucet. Take into consideration the features you want in a faucet. Also keep in mind the design of your bathroom and more importantly the sink and counter top. If you are going to your local hardware store to pick up your new bathroom faucet it may be a good idea to take a photo of your bathroom with you. Or if you are planing to purchase this for a redesign then take some of the swatches and materials along for the trip. This will help you choose a bathroom faucet that matches the design of the bathroom. Some types of faucets allow for a very custom setup where as others offer easy installation.

There are really two types of fixtures to choose from.

Single Body Fixture

This type of bathroom faucet has both the valves as well as the spout attached right to the body of the faucet. Although this type of faucet does not allow any flexibility in installation configurations it does allow for a seamless and easy install.

Widespread Bathroom Faucets

Unlike the design of the single body fixtures the widespread bathroom fixture has its spout independent from its valves. This allows for a custom configuration on the installation opening up the door to to lay it out however you choose as long as the flex tube connectors are long enough to to connect from the spout to the valves.

The next two articles on our blog will go into detail on how to install these types of faucets. Next week we will start with the Single Body Fixture install.
